Shipping

Shipping decides how much your customers pay to receive their order and which delivery options they see at checkout. CIQRA includes a shipping engine that calculates rates from the rules you set — a zone-and-rate model where zones capture where an order is going and rates capture how much it costs.

CIQRA’s shipping engine is a zone-and-rate model. You define shipping zones by destination, attach methods and rates to each zone, and at checkout the engine matches the order’s destination to a zone and offers its delivery options. See How shipping works.

A shipping zone groups the places you ship to, so you can treat different regions differently — for example a domestic zone, a neighbouring-countries zone and a rest-of-world zone. Each order’s destination is matched to a zone. See Shipping zones.

What’s the difference between a flat rate and a table rate?

Section titled “What’s the difference between a flat rate and a table rate?”

A flat rate charges a single fixed price for a method regardless of the cart. A table-rate method lets the price vary by the order — for example by total weight or by order value — so heavier or larger orders can cost more, or shipping can become free over a threshold. See Shipping rates and methods.

Why does a shopper see no delivery options at checkout?

Section titled “Why does a shopper see no delivery options at checkout?”

Usually because no shipping zone covers their destination, or the zone that does has no rate attached. A zone with no rate is invisible to shoppers, the same as having no zone for that destination. See Shipping isn’t calculating at checkout.

My weight-based rate isn’t calculating. What’s wrong?

Section titled “My weight-based rate isn’t calculating. What’s wrong?”

Table-rate methods depend on the data they read. A weight-based rate needs the products in the cart to carry a weight; without it the engine can’t work out a price and the option won’t appear. Make sure your products carry the attributes your rates rely on.

Is there a shipping settings screen in the admin?

Section titled “Is there a shipping settings screen in the admin?”

Yes. The admin has Shipping carriers and Shipping rates screens under Settings, and carriers appears in the admin navigation.

These pages remain conceptual overviews of how the engine behaves rather than click-by-click guides — because the steps have not been walked through the current screens. That is a limit of this documentation, not of the product.
