Search & filtering

Helping shoppers find the right product quickly is one of the biggest levers on sales. Your CIQRA storefront ships with both search and faceted (filtered) search so shoppers can get to what they want in a few interactions.

This is a conceptual overview of how finding products works on the storefront.

Shoppers can search your store and land on a results page listing the products that match what they typed. Because the storefront is server-rendered, the results page is a real page — it loads ready to read and can be linked to or shared.

Faceted search is the part that lets shoppers narrow a large set of results using filters — the checkboxes and controls you see alongside a listing. Rather than scrolling endlessly, a shopper can filter by attributes such as:

  • Category or collection
  • Price range
  • Product options like size or colour

Each filter a shopper applies refines the list, so a broad starting point becomes a short, relevant set. This is especially valuable for stores with deep catalogs, where the difference between “hundreds of results” and “the four that fit” is the difference between a sale and a bounce.

The quality of search and filtering comes directly from how well your catalog is organised. The more structured your products are, the more useful the filters become:

  • Collections and categories define the groupings shoppers browse and filter by — see Build collections and Organize with categories.
  • Options and variants — like size and colour — become facets shoppers can filter on. See Product options and variants.
  • Clear product titles and details help the right products surface for a shopper’s search terms.
